Description:
The highly anticipated CCBI Founder’s Cup, a football and table tennis tournament, was held from 6th to 8th July 2024 with nine Christian Brother Schools participating. These included St. Columba’s School, New Delhi; St. Edmund’s School, Shillong; St. George’s School, Kolkata; Goethals Memorial School, Kurseong; St. Joseph’s College, Kolkata; St. Mary’s Orphanage and Day School, Dum Dum; St. Mary’s High School, Mount Abu; St. Vincent’s High and Technical School, Asansol; and the host school, St. Patrick’s Higher Secondary School, Asansol. The Opening Ceremony was attended by Shri Ponnabalam S. IAS Honourable District Magistrate of Paschim Bardhaman, Brother Sunil Lobo, heads of neighbouring schools, religious community representatives, ex-students, and other distinguished guests. The guests enjoyed a cultural programme featuring classical dance, a yoga performance, and a contemporary dance on Van Mahotsav. The opening match saw St. Mary’s Orphanage and Day School, Dum Dum, face off against St. Joseph’s College, Kolkata. Over the course of the next two days, the teams battled it out and finally St. Edmund’s Shillong lifted the U-17 Founder’s Cup with a score of 3-0 against Goethals Memorial School, Kurseong. St. Columba’s School, New Delhi, won the U-19 Table Tennis Tournament, and St. Patrick’s Higher Secondary School, Asansol, claimed the U-13 category title. Our chief guest, Br. Leonard Lobo, presented the prizes to the winning and participating teams. The Closing Ceremony, also graced by Br. Leonard Lobo, featured a street play on Van Mahotsav, a hymn, and the distribution of trophies, medals, and certificates. May this tournament serve as a reminder of the values we hold dear: teamwork, respect, and the pursuit of excellence. Though the tournament has ended, the memories and spirit of the competition will live on, and we, the school community, will carry forward the enthusiasm and sportsmanship into our daily lives and future endeavours.
