Description:
“Never doubt that a small group Of thoughtful committed citizens Can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” -Margaret Mead All children need a voice until they can speak for themselves. Thats what advocacy is. On 20thAugust, 2022, St. Patrick’s Higher Secondary School, with its Social Justice team of students and teachers successfully conducted one such Advocacy Programme on ‘Aspiring Leaders Seeking Knowledge’ from the leaders of our nation. We were highly honoured to get the revered figureheads amongst us to grace the occasion. We had with us the esteemed dignitaries – Mr. Shatrughan Sinha, Member of Parliament for Asansol Constituency, Mr. Moloy Ghatak, The Honourable Minister of Law & Public Works, Government of West Bengal and Mr. Abhijit Ghatak, The Deputy Mayor, Asansol Municipal Corporation. It was an interactive, insightful and a knowledgeable experience for all the students and spectators present there. There was an indepth brainstorming session with the dynamic leaders, where our young aspirants of several participating schools raised someintriguing questions to them regarding some social issues like the role of the Government in developing the medical facilities for the poor, alleviating the scarcity of water supply, facilitating career development programmes and promoting animal welfare programmes. Once again, this esteemed institution stood for the vulnerable and voiceless people of the community.
