Description:
A short yet meaningful assembly was held in our school to raise awareness about Juvenile Diabetes and the introduction of Sugar Boards—noticeboards that display emergency information and care tips for diabetic students. The aim was to foster a school environment that is safe, informed, and inclusive for everyone. Students took the lead in the assembly, highlighting the daily struggles faced by children living with diabetes. They stressed the importance of empathy, peer support, and understanding in creating a positive school atmosphere. The programme concluded with a heartfelt speech by a student, who reminded us all: “Living with Diabetes can be challenging—especially for children. They may feel different, isolated or left out. So as friends and classmates, we must support and include them, ensure teachers are trained in emergency care, and encourage parents to educate their children without fear or shame.” The closing lines struck a chord with everyone present: “Diabetes isn’t contagious, but compassion is.” Indeed, the assembly served as a gentle reminder that kindness, awareness, and community support can make a world of difference—and that a school’s true strength lies not just in its buildings, but in the hearts of its people.
